Welcome to the Screen Test of Dinty W. Moore, which was filmed two years ago at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Since then, Dinty has had time to review this originally silent film and add a wry and wise commentary on his various facial ticks and habits—outposts, perhaps, of interior shortcomings. With an honesty that is arresting because it seems so easily delivered, he faces the camera and “watches the watcher watch” him. We all have truths we don’t want to see, Dinty observes, and he gives us permission to observe his, and face our own.

Dinty W. Moore is author of Dear Mister Essay Writer Guy: Advice and Confessions on Writing, Love, and Cannibals, the memoir Between Panic & Desire, winner of the Grub Street Nonfiction Book Prize, and many other books. Moore has published essays and stories in The Southern Review, The Georgia Review, Harpers, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, and The Normal School among numerous other venues. He edits Brevity, an online journal of flash nonfiction, and he is deathly afraid of polar bears.
